On Saturday 29 August 2026, at 7.00 pm, the Roman Villa delle Grotte hosts Concerto con la luna piena (Full Moon Concert), an evening of music with Ravanatèra – Canzoniere d'Isole. The Ensemble Vocale Koralé opens the programme.
The terraces of the monumental complex of Le Grotte, set high on the promontory above the gulf of Portoferraio and the stretch of sea towards Piombino, become a natural sounding board for one night: a place where archaeology and landscape meet the music of oral tradition.
Ravanatèra is a folk group formed on the island of Elba in 2016. "The name plays on the act of digging," explains Daniela Soria, the group's long-standing voice. "That is what we do through our musical research: unearthing the roots and traces of history from the humble soil."
Their repertoire brings together work songs — from the mines, the fields and the sea — nursery rhymes, stornelli, carnival songs and traditional pieces from Elba, Corsica and Capraia: a songbook that gives voice to island communities and to the ties that have always crossed this part of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The event is held in collaboration with ProLoco di Portoferraio.
