Our mascotte Meira

Our mascot is called Meira, and Meira tedeschii is its scientific name. It is a small insect, unique in the world, and so rare that it can only be found on the island of Elba, on the slopes of Monte Calamita in the municipality of Capoliveri, and nowhere else on the planet. It is the only species of this genus so far found in the Tuscan Archipelago. As with almost all the beetles of this type, very little is known about its biology.
